THE GLOSSARY OF ART

The introduction is referred to the Myth of Europe Rape by Zeus transformed into bull, because in accordance the mythology, the name of European continent derives from this myth. This subject presentation is achieved by means of a scenario with prototype icons, made by an artist and art works, such as painting, sculpture, ceramics e.t.c, from ancient times until today, all over the Europe.

The text of French intelligent Paul Valery under the title “Who is European” can be considered as the main direction for the development of the subject “Art and Culture”. In accordance with Valery thoughts, the three cultures, the Ancient Greek, the Roman and Christianity are the main pillars of European civilization and have influenced on the creation of the conditions, which determine the identity of an European until today, a human being which is characterized by the European spirit.

The Art and Culture, from ancient times until today, were and are, a link between peoples, a place of mutual influence, meeting, reading and understanding, through common codes of expression and communication, beyond the linguistic barriers. They have also influenced on the birth of common values such as: democracy, pluralism, equality, social solidarity, common cultural heritage, which are considered as common values of contemporary European culture.
